2 dead in QC shootings

Two men were killed in separate shootings in Quezon City on Saturday afternoon.

Police identified the fatalities as John Cadain, 19, and Noel Sanchez, 32.

Cadain was shot dead by an unidentifi­ed assailant along IBP Road in Barangay Batasan Hills.

A woman told police that she heard successive gunshots at around 4 p.m. When she checked outside, she saw Cadain lifeless.

The witness said the gunman, who was wearing a bullcap and shorts, walked away from the scene after the killing.

Sanchez was killed near a church along Speaker street, also in Barangay Batasan HIlls at past 9 p.m.

Police said Sanchez died from multiple gunshots to the body.

Probers said they recovered 9mm casings at the scene.

In Barangay Socorro, Aldrin Espenilla, 35, died after a man slashed his neck using a paper cutter along General MacArthur Avenue.

The assailant, Arturo Rosario, was arrested by a security guard after the incident.

Espenilla was rushed to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The cases were turned over to the Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection Unit of the Quezon City police.
