2 Caloocan cops sacked for extortion

- – Non Alquitran

Two Caloocan policemen were relieved from their posts after they were tagged in extortion, a police official said yesterday.

Police Officer 2 Jaypee Pagarigan and PO1 Christian Panganiban were sacked from their posts at the Police Community Precinct 3 in Caloocan, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde said.

Pagarigan and Panganiban were collared on Friday night by operatives of the Philippine National Police Counter Intelligence Task Force (CITF) after they allegedly demanded money from five suspects whom they arrested on trumped-up charges.

The CITF said the policemen allegedly asked the suspects to cough up money in exchange for their release.

Albayalde said the police officers would undergo summary dismissal proceedings.

Pagarigan and Panganiban were reassigned to the NCRPO Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig.

“These erring policemen never learn their lesson. We have been dismissing and punishing lawmen involved in extortion and other moneymaking schemes but they still continue their illicit activities,” Albayalde said.
