ILLAM batters shut out Canadians in WS opener

-

The International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM) Senior League 16-Under baseball team crushed Canada, 10-0, at the start of the Senior League Baseball World Series in Easley, South Carolina Saturday.

ILLAM, representing the Asia-Pacific region in the tournament, came away with seven hits, led by Javi Limpo’s two doubles, and broke the game wide open at the bottom of the second inning that saw them turn in a seven-run binge.

Starting pitcher Ethan Mitschiener and reliever Nate Carpio also combined to hold Canada to just two hits and ILLAM’s error-free fielders held Canada scoreless over five innings, clinching the win via the Little League’s “mercy rule.”

But ILLAM will have its hands full as it faces powerhouse Latin American champion Panama Sunday night.
