Flood leaves La Union road impassable

LUNA, La Union – The Luna-Bangar Road in this town was impassable to light vehicles due to flood as of Saturday, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Esperanza Tinaza, DPWH regional information officer, said vehicles going to and from La Union and Ilocos Sur were advised to use the national highway connecting the towns of Bangar and Balaoan.

Aside from the flooded road in La Union, Tinaza said a detour bridge in Sta. Lucia and Salcedo Road in Ilocos Sur collapsed and are not passable to all types of vehicles.

She said DPWH personnel were deployed to assist motorists along the Manila-North Road where potholes occurred due to continuous heavy rains.

Contractors of some road repair and bridge projects along the national highway from Ilocos Norte to Pangasinan were also alerted to conduct maintenance activities.
