Baby A.’s ‘old’ SONA gown gets nod from fashion critic
The SONA (State Of The Nation) has been regarded as an opportunity for members of Congress and guests to show off their sartorial best. Some are fashionable and a few are, sob and sigh, fashion victims.
During Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s second SONA last week, fashion-watchers must have been wondering who designed Pangasinan Rep. Rosemarie “Baby” Arenas’ classic green silk gown with gold and red trimmings without noticing that the gown was actually 25 years old, which she first wore in 1992 during a meeting with Prince Charles.
“I wore it for Pres. Duterte in keeping with the motif of wearing Mindanaoan or Muslim-inspired outfits to show solidarity with our brothers and sisters affected by the Marawi crisis,” Baby told Funfare. “I was flattered when a fashion critic praised it as ‘well-researched and well-thought of’.”
As expected, Baby made it to SONA’ s “bestdressed honor roll,” thanks to her fashion sense described as “classic, elegant and appropriate” which she projects with grace and style.
The green dress is “timeless” so it’s okay if Baby wears it to another important occasion.

Last week, the barkada held a party for Susan at Pio’s Kitchen. Last night, it was the turn of Balik Samahan to host a dinner at the house of Pempe Rodrigo (one of the
Samahan’s prime movers). Last Friday (right smack on her birthday), Susan spent the day taping for FPJ’s Ang
Probinsyano. She was requested to proceed to the Sampaguita Events Place early that night purportedly for more shoots.
Imagine how surprised Susan was when the lights
