Interpol aid sought vs 2 Indons in P50-M SMHC theft
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has sought help from the International Police (Interpol) to catch two Indonesians accused of qualified theft by San Miguel Holdings Corp. (SMHC).
The Interpol should issue a “red notice” against Ery Shadik Wahono and Nadiya Stamboel, who are the subjects of arrest warrants issued by the Marikina City regional trial court, NBI international operations division chief Ferdinand Lavin wrote to the law enforcement body.
Placing the two fugitives under “red notice” would alert Interpol member-countries to locate and extradite them, he said.
SMHC accused Wahono of allegedly funneling P50 million from the Citra Metro Manila Tollways Corp. (CMMTC), which operates the Skyway, into another company he created called Citra Central Expressway Corp. (CCEC).
SMHC alleged that Wahono did not inform the CMMTC board about the transfer of the P50 million, which was listed as a loan. It was only when the SMC took control of the CMMTC that the holding firm found it was made to pay for a company it already owns.
Neither Wahono nor Stamboel could be found when the NBI tried to serve arrest warrants at Wahono’s unit at Rockwell Residential Tower Condominium in Makati and Stamboel’s unit at the Renaissance 3000 condominium in Pasig City.
Wahono’s unit was reported to be unoccupied over the past four months, GMA News reported.
NBI records show that Wahono arrived in the country in October 2014 but has no record of departure while Stamboel arrived in the country on May 5 and left on May 17.
