Camila Cabello steps out on her own
Camila Cabello (photo) is loving life as a solo artist. Currently touring with Bruno Mars, she is also simultaneously preparing for the launch of her solo album. “This year is the beginning of a totally new chapter for me, both in my music and my outlook on life,” she said. Not only is she exploring opportunities as a solo artist, she’s also able to show a whole other side of her personal style.
Breaking from a girl band and its fondness for coordinated dressing, now she can wear whatever she wants on the red carpet and on stage. “As a solo artist, I don’t have to worry about matching a group look, which can be quite challenging because you have to fit with everyone else,” she says.
According to Cabello, her personal style has grown. “I think my style has evolved because I’ve evolved as a person,” she says. “I’m always growing and recreating myself, and because style is an expression of how you feel, my style has changed like I have. I’m more comfortable in my own skin now and I don’t feel like I have to do as much to feel good. I could wear jeans and a T-shirt with no makeup and feel just as good as when I’ve been in hair and make-up for two hours and wearing a fancy dress. It’s all about feeling comfortable and feeling like yourself.”
The chart-topping recording artist was recently announced as the new face of Skechers. “Camila is a natural heir to our legacy of singing superstars — she’s already loved by millions, and is the one to watch this year and beyond,” added Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers. “With her confidence and character, she’s a great global icon for our brand.”
