A smarter way to cool your modern living space

- By EPI FABONAN III

Air-conditioning has now become a ubiquitous part of every Filipino’s living space, whether at home or in the office given the tropical climate of our country. Even if air-conditioning results to high electricity bills, a bigger carbon footprint and expensive maintenance costs, many homes and businesses still opt to have air-conditioning.

Midea Philippines, leading global player in consumer appliances and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, addresses these issues with its next-generation Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) airconditioning unit — the Midea V6.

In a recent press event at Shangri-La at the Fort in Taguig, Midea Philippines and its local distribution and after-sales partner Concepcion Midea Inc. Philippines (CMIP) launched the V6.

The V6 currently has the largest capacity among all HVAC models in any brand in the world. A single V6 module outdoor unit has a 38-hp capacity and can run a 128-hp at combination capacity. With this capacity range, the V6 can cool an area of 200 sqm. with a single module outdoor unit and up to 3,000 sqm. in combination capacity. This is particularly ideal for businesses or offices that want to cool as much space using fewer HVAC units.

While it offers a larger capacity, it has the advantage of 40-percent reduced footprint as it has an integrated energy management system that adjust evaporating or condensing temperature to maximize comfort and energy efficiency automatically. This means that no cold or heat is wasted as it operates thereby enabling you to save electricity and reduce its environmental impact.

The V6 is also designed to withstand extreme weather conditions that the Philippines experiences. It is able to work and provide constant comfort within a wide operation range from -5º C to 54º C. The materials used in making the unit are also durable and reliable regardless of the elements it is exposed to.

Surely, most HVAC units are designed to guarantee efficiency, reliability and reduced footprint for its end users. But what sets the V6 apart is the fact that it’s the smartest large capacity HVAC in the market today. It boasts of being able to integrate itself into smart home or smart office systems available today because of its intelligent features.

Among these features are the new IMM pro platform that allows a maximum of 2,048 indoor units to connect to the intelligent control system using cloud infrastructure. By being connected to the cloud, you can control and monitor the temperature of a room or even an entire floor through mobile devices such as your phone or tablet. It can also collect data from the outside environment to manage the temperature or set operating times. It can even connect to alarms, fans, lighting units and other devices so it can react proactively in various situations.

Another smart feature is the Mr. Doctor button that allows built-in diagnosis software to monitor all operating parameters and detailed information. It gathers data regarding the operating status of each indoor unit and stores it in the cloud. It also records the last 30 minutes of operation of each unit in case of a malfunction that it uses to diagnose malfunctions or to monitor whether the refrigerant needs charging and recycling.

What’s also really clever about the V6 is its self-cleaning mode that allows it to blow off leaves or dust from the outdoor unit, making it easier to maintain and service and could prolong its lifespan.

With a smarter, more reliable and highly efficient HVAC unit like the V6, Midea is set to redefine the way modern living spaces in the Philippines are cooled and heated. Not only will it provide constant air conditioning at reduced cost for the end user, it also forces businesses and offices in the country to rethink the way the cool and heat their living and work spaces because of its smart features. And that’s going to put Midea on the map as a trusted brand when it comes to smart home technologies.

“As Midea continues to develop new product technologies along with highly advanced manufacturing capabilities and coupled with Concepcion’s local distribution and after market strength, we have no doubt that the Midea brand will be a major player in the local AC market,” says Philip Trapaga, CMIP general manager.
