US hospitality specialist recognizes Phl institute
The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), a global partner for professional hospitality certifications, has recently designated The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (SHRIM) of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) as a Certified Guest Service Property (CGSP).
The recognition is given to a property or organization whose guest service contact employees have passed the Certified Guest Service Professional examination being administered by AHLEI.
A total of 28 of SHRIM’s faculty and staff recently received Certified Guest Service Professional designation from the American institution.
Dean Angelo Lacson of SHRIM said that the conferment of CGSP status was fortuitous since the grant specifies that all guest service contact employees of a property should have received Certified Guest Service Professional status, which is recognized worldwide to be the highest acknowledgment of award-winning guest service for employees in the lodging industry.
Founded in 1953, the AHLEI provides working hospitality professionals with education and training to meet the needs of the industry through a variety of hospitality solutions, including online learning, professional certification, and resources for workforce agencies, high schools and colleges.
The designation is valid for a year from awarding, and the plaque of certification issued to the awardee may be prominently displayed within its premises to recognize its commitment to providing exceptional guest service.
Other industry qualifications that Benilde associates have earned through the years include the Certified Hospitality Educator Certification, a recognition for effective postsecondary instruction, and the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Award, a globally-recognized standard for wine and spirit knowledge.
