- By PERSEUS ECHEMINADA

A man allegedly high on drugs raped and stabbed dead his two-yearold nephew in Muntinlupa City over the weekend.

Police arrested Eduardo Mendoza, 29, who confessed to the crime.

Leonil Ledesma, a security guard, found a duffle bag left by Mendoza that contained the boy’s body wrapped in white linen at the motorcycle parking area of the South Station Terminal in Alabang at around at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday.

Senior Superintendent Dante Novi- cio, Muntinlupa police chief, said the boy suffered multiple stab wounds in the chest.

During investigation, Novicio said Mendoza told probers that he lost the boy at the bus station after he asked a woman to look after his nephew when he went to the toilet.

When he returned after a few minutes, the suspect said the woman and his nephew were nowhere to be found.

But police became suspicious when they noticed bloodstains and paint marks on Mendoza’s pants.

Mendoza is the brother of the victim’s mother.

Reports said the boy’s parents allowed Mendoza to take their son for a stroll.

Mendoza, however, brought the boy to a motel in Alabang where he raped the victim.

The suspect admitted that he gave the boy a glass of milk laced with textile paint.

The victim’s mother confirmed that Mendoza was a drug user and had attempted to commit suicide in the past.

“The suspect is a marijuana user. He showed no remorse in killing his nephew,” Novicio said.

Police said charges of murder and child abuse would be filed against Mendoza before the city prosecutor’s office today.
