Phl spikers hone up for int’l stints, 2019 seag

The national men’s volleyball team of head coach Sinfronio “Sammy” Acaylar is back on practice at Arellano gym to prepare for internatio­nal competitio­ns and the 30th SEA Games in the country in 2019.

Present during the practice session were mainstays co-captains Johnvic de Guzman, Reyson Fuentes, Mark Alfafara, Greg Dolor, Peter Quiel of FEU, Geuel Asia, Jack Kalingking, Relan Taneo of Perpetual Altas and Bonjomar Castel of Cignal HD Spikers.

Acaylar has also invited UAAP’s 6’5 ace blocker Kim Malabunga and 6’4 Francis Saura of NU Bulldogs, NCBA’s Ferdinand Guanzon, AUF’s Justin Yturalde, Manuel Hizon and national pool returnee Anjo Pertierra of Mapua.

Also present at the practice were 28th SEA Games mainstay Edward Camposano of UE, John Bugaoan of FEU, Buro Rosales and Allan Salaan of UPH Altas spikers.

After the sixth place finish of the 12-man team, Acaylar disbanded the 25-man pool in preparatio­n for the tournament­s they will competing in before the 2019 SEAG.

The team will perform at Arellano gym every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 6-10 a.m. with the help of coaching staff Micheal Carino, Bong Dumalaog, Eddieson Orcullo, Fritz Santos, Hertito Monzon, Sandy Rieta and the newly added coach Dante Alinsunuri­n of NU under the supervisio­n of Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI).
