HOROSCOPE

(September 20 Wednesday)

- By HOLIDAY MATHIS

Industrious New Moon The golden opportunity inside this Virgo new moon (just hours away from the fall equinox) invites industriousness, shrewd focus, economy, modesty and humility. Such qualities are not among the most glamorous, and yet true success and high glamour aren’t as related as the current culture seems to want them to be.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). In today’s case, the question might be a lot more complicated than the answer. This is great news. Hop off that question as soon as possible. Grab a good thing. Apply the simple fix, and get on with it.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Some say honesty is interesting, and others say it’s boring. Much depends on the context, of course, but maybe what matters is not the level of truth in the words but the level of truth in your intention.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You already know not to base your self-worth on people’s reactions to you. Still, sometimes it’s hard not to take the various moods of your loved ones a little too personally.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Today you will make a stellar impression, partly because of your careful attention to your appearance, and mostly because you are the best listener around.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). When do you make the sensible choice? When it makes sense to you! Going against your heart or swallowing your passion makes no sense at all to you, and neither does the option that will cause you to wonder “What if?”

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). The circumstance of the day may have you feeling like a new adult, entering the workforce astounded at the drudgery of some jobs, wanting to be free like a child again.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Just because you devote a large portion of your life to one thing, that doesn’t mean you’re defined by it. You’re not one thing. No one is. To defy strict categorization today, you will show the world some other sides.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). This mission you’re considering will be a long one, much longer than you initially thought. The African proverb suggests, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Many of your impulses will be spot on today. This is a day to get the ideas out fast; act on them; and be done with it. Don’t agonize. Don’t ruminate. Don’t second-guess your notions or doubt yourself.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You’re bold in ways that others wish they were. The people around you may not understand exactly what it is you do, but they appreciate that you do it.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). As a rule, it’s usually better to go than to stay, to meet people than to not and to learn than to remain ignorant. Of course, rules don’t always apply. There are some interactions you’d be better off not having. Go with your gut.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). The younger a person is, the more likely he or she is to think in terms of all or nothing. Experienced people aren’t as afraid to deal in subtleties and complications. They aren’t as afraid to negotiate.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Sept. 20). You’ll get better at delegating as you focus on what’s going to challenge and inspire you. Supporters will leap to assist you: Just say the word. Travel leads to money and money leads to travel in 2018. The more you see of the world (including via relationships with new people) the richer you get (in more ways than one.) Leo and Aries adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 3, 2, 19, 35, 11.

SCHOOL DAYS! THE LEO STUDENT: An intensely creative spirit drives Leo to learn about the world. So it is not the knowledge itself that Leo is after, rather the specific way that Leo can use it in order to make something of himself or herself. In this way, Leo can be practical about studies, with a strong desire to know what will be on the test. Leo often doesn’t want to be bothered with the backstory or any extraneous details. The social aspects of school are extremely important to this sign. The cat realizes early on that relationships, not knowledge, make the world go around.

THE VIRGO STUDENT: The teacher’s pet is often a thoughtful Virgo, as this sign won’t skimp on the details that make for academic excellence. Ruled by Mercury, Virgo has a keen grasp of the “who, what, when and where” of educational factoids and will cover all subjects comprehensively. All blanks will be filled in. This sign is naturally focused and organized and will have high expectations in regard to grades. Self-motivated, Virgo needs little monitoring. Side note: Most Virgos would rather get an A in an easy class than risk a lesser grade in a difficult class.
