Van rape suspect gets 20 years for drugs

A man accused of raping women inside a colorum UV Express van in Quezon City has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on separate drug charges.

In an order issued on Wednesday, Judge Editha Mina-Aguba of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 100 also fined Wilfredo Lorenzo P400,000.

Lorenzo was caught with a sachet of shabu during his arrest on June 13, 2016 after his alleged victim reported the crime.

He was on his way to a store when the victim identified him as the suspect after trailing the vehicle used during the rape.

Aguba affirmed the legality of Lorenzo’s arrest in the order as well as the chain of custody of the evidence used by the prosecutio­n.

Lorenzo is being tried on charges of rape and robbery with rape before different courts in Quezon City.
