Russian ‘cannibal couple’ arrested for eating 30 people

-

MOSCOW — Russian police have arrested a couple who allegedly killed, tortured and ate dozens of people in the city of Krasnodar, according to a report in The Washington Post yesterday.

The police said Natalia and her husband Dmitry Baksheeva were responsible for the death or disappearance of 30 people since 2010.

Dmitry has been charged with one count of murder.

Police said the couple first sedate their victims, then skin them alive, and afterwards eat their body parts.

“They also freeze the remains or pack them in jars filled with saline solution. At times, the couple tried to turn soldiers at the military academy where they worked into unwitting cannibals, mixing human meat into their food,” reported The Washington Post, quoting The Moscow Times.

The couple’s criminal activities were discovered when construction workers found a discarded cell phone on the street.

They checked the phone and found photos of Dmitry devouring a human hand.

The workers turned over the phone to the police who were able to track the owner through “special technical measures.”

During his arrest, Dmitry told police that he and his wife had practiced cannibalism many times for the past two decades.

When police raided the couple’s house, they found frozen meat parts of unknown origin in the kitchen and a glass jar with a human hand.

Police said an investigation is still ongoing.
