Far Eastern University seeks to complete the Final Four cast as it tangles with ousted Lyceum of the Philippines University today at the close of the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference eliminations at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

With a 3-1 card, the Lady Tams need to hurdle the Lady Pirates in their Group A encounter at 4 p.m. to join Group A topnotcher National University and Group B’s Adamson and Arellano in the next round of the seasonending conference of the league organized by Sports Vision and backed by Mikasa and Asics.

A victory by FEU, which is likely to miss the services of standout Bernadeth Pons the rest of the conference, will slam the door shut on Ateneo, which closed out its elims campaign with a 3-2 card following a four-set loss to National U last Saturday.

Pons, who skipped the Lady Tams three-set romp over the Jose Rizal U Lady Bombers last Wednesday, is set to arrive today from a stint with the national team in the Southeast Asia beach volley in Singapore, but might not suit up in their remaining games to concentrate on her UAAP beach volley stint, according to FEU coach George Pascua.

The tourney kicks off on Oct. 6.

Pascua, however, has lots of reliable players to bank on, including veteran Heather Guino-o and Toni Basas.

“Pons is a scorer so I just told (Heather Guino-o) that she need not match what Pons is doing. She should just fill in what the team is lacking and she has the rest of her teammates to do what Pons does,” said Pascua.

Lyceum, meanwhile, hopes to spoil FEU’s outright semis drive behind Rocelyn Hongria, Cherilyn Sindayen and Christine Miralles with the Lady Pirates, toting a 1-3 slate, also out to go out in style.

The Lady Falcons, meanwhile, gun for a sweep sans injured Jema Galanza as they clash with the also-ran San Beda side at 6:30 p.m.
