German European School Manila
Opening doors to Germany and the world
In the heart of Better Living Subdivision lies one of Parañaque’s treasures: an appealing international school called the German European School Manila (GESM). In close alliance with the Lycée Français de Manille it forms the so-called “Eurocampus,” the common area of both schools.
GESM is an officially recognized German school abroad with both a German and an international branch. The school offers a K-12 program which includes a German and international section for Kindergarten and PrePrimary, Primary School (Grades 1-5), Secondary school (Grades 6- 10), and a two-year international high school program (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program).
Moreover, it offers final examinations for the German school branches
Hauptschule, Realschule and Gymnasium. GESM was again officially recognized as an “Excellent German School Abroad” by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (Zentralstelle für das
Auslandsschulwesen) after the inspection in September this year. The first Seal of Excellence had been awarded to the school in 2011.
GESM has a strong tradition in its academic history as it congratulates the graduates of May 2017 for successfully completing the IB Diploma Program. The students wrote exams in 32 subjects. In 18 of them, GESM ranked equal or above world average, among them Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Music, Visual Arts and Languages like German, English, Spanish, Chinese or Hebrew.
The school also keeps a small and closely-knit community with a family atmosphere of mutual trust and help. GESM boasts of at least 40 nationalities that create a lively and colorful multicultural environment. GESM is a friendly and welcoming secular school in the German and European humanistic tradition of education, placing particular emphasis on character formation, language acquisition, critical thinking and global citizenship. Personalized support for each individual student is the core of our philosophy and the guideline for our teachers. In line with the mission of the International Baccalaureate, we develop inquiring and knowledgeable young people who will help to create a better and peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Our students learn how to care for one another, for the community, and how to care for themselves.
The German European School Manila, together with the Lycée Français de Manille, will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Eurocampus this year. This is an important milestone for both schools as strong institutional support to European expats sent to the Philippines. The German school stands firm in its commitment to provide excellent education in German and English, following highest internationally accepted standards in the years to come.
