Jacqueline Dizon’s heart and soul cradle a pulsating harmony that resonates with her artistry. Her eyes speak of strength of spirit, which gives her the ability to rise above what life brings her.

Jacqui, who hails from a family of renowned jewelry designers, was able to tap her creativity early in life with the help of her mom, Candy Dizon. She also says her late grandmother, celebrated jeweler Jul B. Dizon, continues to be one of her inspirations.

“I am very lucky that I have my mom and my grandmother as inspirations. I am glad they taught my sister and me how to design jewelry when we were very young. They also exposed us to the business so we could learn how to interact with customers. Drawing with my grandmother when I was a kid was always fun. She would tell us, ‘Hey, this is cute. Maybe we should make it (as a jewelry piece).’ She would also let us listen to music, take piano and voice lessons,” Jacqui recalls.

After finishing high school at Manila Waldorf School, Jacqui took a gap year and pursued creative endeavors like a short course in Interior Design at SoFA. In the same year, she also took an internship with Janina for Jul Dizon, where she released her first jewelry collection.

“During my internship, I dabbled in a few jewelry designs whenever we had downtime. Janina (Dizon-Hoschka) saw my designs and she said they were pretty good to make into a collection. It was a great experience doing what I love — designing, interacting with customers. It was fulfilling,” says Jacqui, a second year Communication Arts student at the University of Santo Tomas, who also writes for the lifestyle website Cluster.ph.

Ever the go-getter, Jacqui expands her horizon outside her comfort zone. And by taking on life’s adventure, she carries with her the lessons she has learned from her mom Candy. “I learned everything from my mom. She taught me all the basic virtues like responsibility and respect. Aside from that, she instills in me the value of hard work and encourages me to seek new things. She’s the first person that I go to when I need advice. I love the relationship that we have.”

For Jacqui, life is precious that’s why she surrounds herself with positivity. It is also important for her to create lasting relationships with people close to her heart, as they are the source of her happiness.

With a grateful heart, Jacqui acknowledges that the paved road she is traversing right now was made by the dedication and hard work of her family. She hopes to finish school soon and continue writing for Cluster.ph, but ultimately, she wants to pursue jewelry, her family’s legacy.

“I am grateful that I am surrounded by my loved ones. I’m also grateful that I now know where I want to be and I know that I can get there with positivity. I know, one day, I will achieve my goals and dreams and I will continue to work hard even if I hit bumpy roads. I am ready,” she concludes.
