- – Emmanuel Tupas

Police arrested a 31-year-old American for allegedly molesting a woman in a moviehouse at a shopping mall in Quezon City on Friday.

Joseph Martin McMillan is facing charges of acts of lasciviousness and physical injuries for the incident, which reportedly happened at around 5:30 p.m. at a mall in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa.

A report from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the 31-year-old woman and her husband were in a movie theater when the suspect, who was seated beside her, touched her thigh twice.

The woman and her husband switched seats. A commotion ensued when her husband asked McMillan to remove his arm, which was on his chair.

Instead of removing his arm, McMillan allegedly punched the woman’s husband repeatedly. He was apprehended by security guards and policemen.

He was brought to QCPD Station 2 and later transferred to the QCPD headquarters at Camp Karingal.

McMillan, a resident of Quezon City, denied he molested the woman.

“She is lying. I didn’t touch her. There was no contact,” he said in a brief interview at his detention cell .

The American claimed he was not drunk during the incident and wondered why he was assaulted by the woman’s husband and other people.

McMillan claims he has been in the country for six months. When asked about his job, he said he is unemployed.

“I don’t need a job,” he said.
