Student kills self over bullying, grades

- Emmanuel Tupas

A college student allegedly committed suicide over failing grades and bullying from his classmates in San Juan City on Friday.

Patrick Mole, 24, a third year college student at the University of the East (UE) in Manila, was found dead at around 10:30 a.m. by his sister at their house in Barangay Balong Bato, according to a report from the Eastern Police District.

Mole hanged himself in the comfort room using a nylon cord looped around his neck, police said.

San Juan police chief Senior Superintendent Lawrence Coop said Mole told his mother the previous night he failed some of his classes.

“The victim revealed he was also being bullied by his classmates,” he said in a text message.

Coop said investigators are still gathering additional details, including the course the victim was taking at UE.
