‘Movies in Concert with Orchestra’ at Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier

Soundtrack­s have become an indispensa­ble part of movies. They create the atmosphere and set tone of the film.

The Manila Chamber Orchestra (MCO) presents “Movies in Concert with Orchestra,” which will be held on Nov. 17, 7:30 p.m. at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier, BGC, Taguig, presents movie soundtrack­s that belong the Music Hall of Fame. These include Richard Strauss’s Sunrise Fanfare, which was featured in the award-winning futuristic film 2001 Space Odyssey; Gone With the Wind soundtrack by Max Steiner including

Tara’s Theme; John Williams’s masterpiec­es in Sch ind le r’ s List, Indiana Jones, Superman, Star Wars, Jaws and Jurassic Park, among others; Enrico Morricone’s compositio­ns featured in The Good The Bad and The Ugly and Fistful of Dollars; and a medley of James Bond themes. Broadway hits Think of Me, All I Ask of You and I Dreamed a Dream are also included in the program.

“Romantic melodies are universal favorites. In this concert, romantic feelings are expressed through three songs: A Time for Us from Romeo and Juliet, Where is Your Heart from Moulin Rouge, and Love is A Many Splendored Thing,” said Eduardo Yap, board trustee and executive producer, “Movies in Concert with Orchestra.”

Featured performers are tenor Nohmer Nival, soprano Stefanie Quintin and violinist Christian Tan with the Manila Symphony Orchestra and the Ateneo Alumni Glee Club.

The concert is produced by the Manila Chamber Orchestra Foundation Inc.

Ticket prices are P2,500 (VIP), P2,000 (Orchestra Center), P1,000 (Orchestra Side), P800 (Grand Tier), P500 (Lower Balcony) and P300 (Upper Balcony).
