Hermes Cape Cod Shadow: An icon born out of rebellion

The Hermes Cape Cod Shadow is an icon born out of rebellion — that of Henri d’Origny, a longstanding creative partner of the maison, who was asked by Hermès to design a square watch. But this free spirit saw things differently and preferred to respond in an almost irreverent manner, with a watch representing a “square inside a rectangle.”
The stylishly attired Cape Cod has made its way blithely through more than 25 years while exuding a natural air of authority. Its design reflects rigorous discipline combined with a boldly impertinent attitude. Its natural penchant is to lend itself with great aplomb to the ebb and flow of the times.
Definitely not the kind to stand still, Cape Cod disconcerts observers with full-on aesthetic appeal of the Shadow. A black DLC-treated case, a matt black dial, red burnishing of the strap edges: such are the deliberate style choices of a model profoundly enamoured of liberty.
The dial is in matt black, with rhodium-plated raised Arabic numerals and ruthenium-coated hands. The case is a square inside a rectangle, 29x29 mm. Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1991, the watch features a matt black DLC-treated brushed 316L steel, sapphire crystal with anti-glare treatment and is water-resistant to three bar. The strap is black Barenia calfskin, redburnished edges has interchangeable double wrap-around.
