Iñigo gives back to fans via concert
Thanks to the hit single
Dahil Sa ‘Yo, Iñigo Pascual is living the dream.
When Iñigo moved to the Philippines to pursue an acting career, he enjoyed a steady stream of movie and TV projects. But he never forgot about music. In November 2016, he released his self-titled album under Star Music and Cornerstone Music. His first single and own composition, the bouncy Dahil Sa ‘Yo became a huge hit, to say the least. It topped the local Billboard singles chart for nine straight weeks in the first quarter of 2017, making this year Inigo’s breakout year.
Co-writer Gab Tagadtad (who was in charge of the rap verse), as well as his album producers Jonathan Manalo and RB “KidWolf” Barbaso also deserve credit as Iñigo does.
Dahil Sa ‘Yo enjoyed significant radio airplay upon its release, and its music video was put on heavy rotation on MYX. It has since racked up 9.9 million views on YouTube. (The lyric video has around 40 million views.) The song gained even more traction when it was used in My Ex and Whys and Finally Found Someone.
Aside from its chart success, Dahil Sa ‘Yo won Song of the Year award at the 2017 Alta Media Icon Awards. It’s currently up for three Awit Awards, namely Best Performance by a New Male Recording Artist, Best Pop Recording and Song of the Year.
His album is correspondingly nominated for Album of the Year. Iñigo has other feathers in his cap, including nods from the Eduk Circle Awards and the MOR Music Awards (for Male Music Artist of the Year and Best New Artist of the Year, respectively).
Aside from his OneMusic Popssss regular hostThe ing, most recently, he was included in ASAP Jambayan, a new segment where Iñigo performs with other up-andcoming singer-songwriters. He’s also a World Vision ambassador with a focus on promoting the spiritual nurture of kids from around the world.
This year is Iñigo’s breakout year for a number of reasons. Aside from his success in the OPM scene, he’s slowly going global. After being tapped to play shows like the Dubai One Music X festival and a series of gigs for TFC, Iñigo recorded
Remember Me for the latest Disney/Pixar film Coco, which opened on Nov. 22 in the Philippines.
Iñigo also has a single to be released in Academy Of Rock Singapore featuring British rapper Req titled
Loco. It will also be available on Spotify soon, plus the single Extensyon featuring Aikee as an official entry in the Himig Handog 2017. Iñigo also sang the theme song of Zanjoe Marudo and Rhian Ramos’ romcom hit Fallback and a remake of M.Y.M.P.’s A Little Bit.
Iñigo will give back to his fans via a musical showcase simply called Dahil Sa ‘Yo: A Thanksgiving Concert on Dec. 1 at the Music Museum. His friends KZ Tandingan, the ASAP Jambayan gang, Darren Espanto, his onscreen partner Maris Racal and G-Force are some of his guests.
It is produced by Cornerstone Concerts and Star Events and in cooperation with Academy Of Rock. The show is directed by Johnny Manahan.
