TIEZA OKs 4 new tourism ecozones
The Tourism Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) has formalized agreements for the development of four Tourism Enterprise Zones (TEZ).
TIEZA chief operating officer Pocholo Paragas assigned the designation of Panglao Bay Premiere as a flagship TEZ.
A flagship TEZ is a joint initiative of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and TIEZA to seek out and develop areas in the Philippines with viable tourism potential.
The flagship TEZ is located in Panglao Island in Bohol is set to be masterplanned into an integrated leisure resort.
Paragas also signed the registration of Bravo Hotel Corp. as the operator/ Tourism Estate Management Facilities and Services (TEMFS) for Bravo Gold Resorts, a TEZ in Negros Oriental; the registration of ACQ Solomonic Builders Development Corp. as the operator/TEMFS for the Kingdom Global City TEZ in Davao City; and the registration of Hijo Resources Corp. as the operator/TEMFS for the Hijo Resources TEZ in Davao del Norte.
“These Tourism Enterprise Zones are all masterplanned to become integrated leisure establishments,” TIEZA said.
As TEZ operators or TEMFS, the awardees shall administer the TEZ and supervise its activities.
“They shall handle the property by developing, operating, and controlling development to be faithful to the masterplan,” the agency said.
Last month, the TIEZA said it approved the application of several TEZ projects for the last quarter of the year.
One of these projects is the registration of Phil. U.R.I. Development as TEMFS of Queen’s Castle TEZ in Medellin, Cebu.
The TIEZA board also approved the comprehensive Tourism Master Plans for Bucas Grande Flagship TEZ and for Mt. Samat Shrine Flagship TEZ.
