Volkswagen tees off with new Caddy
IT’S ONE of the few compact-sized cars that you can proudly roll to a stop at your usual bag drop with three of your golfing buddies and all your golfing gear. Most cars can take two golf bags in their trunk; you’d need a van or big SUV to fit four players and four tournament-size golf bags. Until now. Volkswagen Philippines, the exclusive importer and distributor of the leading European car brand in the country, now offers the versatile, safe and powerful new Caddy multipurpose vehicle (MPV).
The new Caddy is available in two variants: Comfortline (CL) and Sportline (SL). Both are equipped with a highly fuel-efficient 1.6-liter turbocharged direct injection (TDI) diesel engine mated to a 7-speed direct shift gear (DSG) transmission that generates102ps and 250Nm of torque, more than enough to efficiently transport cargo and passengers in its 7-seater configuration.
The new Caddy is considered an ideal, easy-todrive MPV for families for its flexible seating configuration and its generous cargo space (four golf bags can be stashed standing in the cargo area thanks to the Caddy’s high-roof design), its easy ingress and egress thanks to sliding rear doors—all while optimizing safety features such as front, side and curtain airbags, Hill Hold Control, flat tire indicator, electronic engine immobilizer, among others.
Cruise Control, touchscreen audio with 6-speaker system and Bluetooth connectivity, leather steering, front fog lights, exterior mirror auto fold, are standard in both CL and SL variants, while the 17inch “Madrid” alloy wheels Fontana Red Surface, driver alert system, body-colored protective side moldings with chrome inserts, smoked rear lamp cover, and, silver roof rails are special features of the SL variant.
Available exterior colors are Candy White, Deep Black Pearl (CL only), Chestnut Brown (CL only) and Fortuna Red (SL only) while the “Caddy fees” are P1,430,000 and P1,480,000, for the CL and SL, respectively.
