Gen Trias completes infra projects for 2nd anniversary
General Trias, Cavite Mayor Antonio Ferrer led the celebration of the city’s 2nd cityhood anniversary by presenting a number of infrastructure projects completed this year. As a major thrust, the city government is geared to increase its capacity to address the needs of more GenTrisenos through much needed structural improvement in various facets of public service.
To enhance resiliency and disaster preparedness, a new two-story building was built at South Square Village in Barangay Pasong Kawayan II to house the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
Another two-story multipurpose hall was also completed in Barangay Bacao II which can also serve as evacuation center during emergencies and calamities.
More and more people choose GenTri as their place of residence. Hence to provide better settlement options, 50 housing units were built, while 86 units more are ongoing construction at Barangay Santiago.
For recreation and sports, two multi-purpose covered courts were completed in April of this year - one in Barangay Pasong Camachile I and another in Barangay Pinagtipunan.
Coping with the increasing school population in Governor Luis Y. Ferrer II Senior High School at South Square Village, two four-story buildings were completed, providing 40 additional classrooms.
A third four-storey, eightclassroom building is anticipated to be ready for use by the end of the first quarter next year.
Also in line with capability enhancement for the working populace of GenTri, a twostory Manpower Development Center was completed on Nov. 15 as venue for implementation of various skills and technical training programs.
To decongest major thoroughfares, alternate routes were opened from Centennial Road to Bacao I, to Antel Grand Village, to Bacao II and to San Juan II via NIA Road. Ongoing is the construction of Centennial Road to Tejero to Rosario Town proper, Sta. Clara Pinagtipunan Road, Lumunsad By-pass road to Governors Drive, General Trias-Amadeo Road, and the San Juan I-Pinagtipunan Bypass road.
The first phase of the construction of Himlayang General Trias-Annex located at Barangay Buenavista III also commenced this year, as well as the safe closure and rehabilitation of the dumpsite in Barangay Tapia last April pursuant to RA 9003 or Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
The progressive town in the heart of Cavite became the 7th component city of the province in 2015 by virtue of RA 10675, sponsored by Rep. LuisFerrer, IV of the 6th District of Cavite, and approved by the then president Aquino. With the accomplishment of the above projects, General Trias is again ready to take on new challenges as one of Cavite’s fast-emerging cities.
