Resolving right-of-way issues
The delay in obtaining the right-of-way (ROW) access is one of the major problems to complete the implementation of the government’s Build, Build, Build programs and investors’ infrastructure projects.
To help address this issue, the Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) will launch a training entitled, “Resolving Right-of-Way Issues” to be held on Jan. 25, at the Manila Marriott Hotel, Pasay City.

Learn everything you need to know about the best practices in solving your ROW problems and challenges. Topics will include the new Right-of-Way Act, salient features of its IRR, modes of acquisition and transfer, guidelines and process of expropriation, rules on negotiated sale, standards for the assessment and compensation of subject properties, environmental issues, strategies, judicial and administrative remedies for attendees to become more effective and efficient in expediting their ROW access.
This will feature two expert practitioners on this field to share their knowledge and proven years of experience in handling and solving right-of-way issues. The first lecturer will be Atty. Joy Orig, assistant vice president for legal services at Metro Pacific Tollways South. Prior to this, she was assigned by MPIC as assistant vice president for legal at NLEX Corp. who is in-charge in handling ROW issues. This will also feature Engr. Augustin Torres, who is an expert in the building code of the Philippines with over 30 years of experience in handling right of way issues. He is a consultant to many local and international firms including the DPWH National Building Code Development Office and LGU of Quezon City.
Attending this seminar offers fresh insights for ROW Implementing agencies, GOCCs involved in ROW, funding institutions, LGUs, property developers, contractors and engineers, PPP partners and landowners to fast track the clearance of right of way and avoid costly delays of one’s projects.
