2018: What’s in store for Kapuso stars

- Angel JAVIeRCRUZ

The start of a new year is one that most people anticipate. It’s like a clean slate, a fresh start, a new beginning. While there are some who tend to be apprehensive after the challenges of the past year, others –– like our GMA artists –– are looking forward to strengthening their careers, bagging new shows and endorsements, and building a new life with their partners.

Kapuso Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado is looking forward to another soap. “I am excited to find out what GMA management will offer me,” she said. “Excited to be working on another movie. Hopefully, I would be able to do two films for 2018.”

The stars of Sherlock Jr. –– Ai-Ai delas Alas, Janine Gutierrez, Gabbi Garcia and Ruru Madrid –– are optimistic that their new series will be warmly received by viewers.

“Excited ako na mapanood ng sambayanang Pilipino ang Sherlock Jr. dahil sinisigurado namin sa inyo talagang pinaghandaan namin ito at magugustuhan nila ‘to,” 20-year-old heartthrob Ruru said.

Aside from her excitement for the series, Janine is also looking forward to seeing more of the world in the new year. “In 2018, I real-

ly want to travel,” she said. “My friend is getting married in Spain in May. First time ako makakapuntang Europe kaya

sobrang excited ako doon.” Gabbi, who is juggling her career and her studies, will be enrolling for the second semester at her school.

“I’m also engaging in some new deals with different clients so medyo

may treat pa rin ako for my fans,” Gabbi said. “Ang wish ko talaga for 2018 is that I am able to juggle my different responsibilities kasi hindi naman pwedeng magpakalunod sa work. I also hope for the sustainability of my career.”

Gabby Concepcion is also hoping for a brighter and bolder 2018. “I look forward to better stories and teleserye that our audience will enjoy as much or even more than they did Ika-6 Na Utos. I pray for peace all over the world.”

Sanya Lopez longs for more projects and endorsements. She continues to be grateful for continued blessings in her life.

“Lahat po yata ng mga taon naging maganda naman sa akin dahil nung nagsisimula pa lang ako, walang-wala talaga ako pero hindi Niya kami pinabayaan. Every

year, binibigay naman Niya mga kailangan namin; may mga problema pero nakakaya,” Sanya said.

Jennylyn also believes in cultivating a sense of gratitude. “In my personal life, I have always instilled positivity and gratitude. I am blessed and I couldn’t ask for more... kung ano na lang ang dumating for 2018. Blessings are outpouring, thanks to Him.”

Sunshine Dizon is all for positive thinking (“Always stay positive in all aspects of your life”) while Thea Tolentino wants to hone her craft and push her career forward.

“I’m excited because everything is new,” said Atom Araullo. “Everything I’m doing now is new. I’m the new host of i-Witness, I’m doing a new show for AXN, we’re launching this new digital program, I’m doing several projects with some friends, some passion projects, so it’s a crucial year and I’m happy that I’m doing exciting things.”

In 2017, Pancho Magno wed Max Collins, while Ai-Ai married Gerald Sibayan.

Ai-Ai is excited to be a housewife but there are no plans of leaving the limelight anytime soon. Pancho said he was looking forward to building a family with wife Max. “Na-e-excite na kami kung magtitingin kami ng

sarili naming house in the future as well as for the furniture and renovations na we’ll be choosing together. Every day of 2018 we’ll build up our marriage.”

The future looks bright for GMA artists in 2018 and beyond. Happy New Year to all of you.
