Chance encounter between Baby & FVR

-

Barely five days after her photo (left) kissing Pres. DU30 went viral after it came out on the front page of The STAR before Christmas, Pangasinan Rep. Rosemarie “Baby” Arenas had another close encounter with a president, Fidel V. Ramos (right) at the 81st birthday bash for former Speaker Jose de Venecia at the Sampaguita Events Place in Quezon City, hosted by his wife, former Rep. Gina de Venecia.

Pres. DU30 was shown smiling as Baby, standing behind him, planted a tender kiss on his right cheek during the signing of the tax reform law.

In a follow-up STAR story, Baby was quoted as saying that she greeted the President as a sign of respect, admiration and fondness, “Just as I would greet FVR,” added Baby. “Of course, it was a kilig moment. The President is a true gentleman and I am not into selfies but I would do it for true heroes like Pres. Duterte and FVR.”

During the other “kilig moment” minus a kiss (not even on the cheek) at JDV’s party, Baby told

The STAR that she was somewhat surprised

when FVR approached the table where Baby and her daughter, MTRCB chief

Rachel Arenas (right), were seated. Of course, for whatever reason, the rare public encounter between Baby and FVR created excitement among the guests, particularly the media. FVR excused himself from the picture-taking and approached Baby as all eyes turned to them.

As soon as she recovered, Baby and FVR posed for a photo with Pres. DU30. FVR is Pres. DU30’s adviser. As cameras clicked, Baby asked FVR to change his “thumbs-up” sign to Pres. DU30’s “clenched fist” sign. FVR obliged with a smile.

“What made our Christmas celebration memorable was when we were serenaded by Pastor Quiboloy’s international choir (below, right) that flew in all the way from Davao,” said Baby.

Baby and Rachel spent Christmas at home with family and staff (below, left).
