MBS’ rousing welcome for 2018

-

Singapore ushered in 2018 with an evening of good cheer and great fun at the Marina Bay Singapore (MBS) countdown despite the rain. A host of programs held across Marina Bay and the Civic District — including hourly one-minute fireworks and synchronized light projections at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, Art Science Museum and the Merlion — culminated in a grand six-minute firework display at the stroke of midnight.

Singaporeans and visitors alike were also invited to share their hopes and dreams for the year ahead. Selected wishes penned by the public on the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2018 website were projected on the façade of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, in between the hourly light projections and fireworks. Singapore’s largest countdown event in the city center saw people from all walks of life gathered across four activity hubs, with events like the picnic space and outdoor bazaar at The Float @ Marina Bay; Prudential Marina Bay Carnival at The Promontory and Bayfront Event Space; and fitness, music and art activities lined up for those at the Civic District. Revelers also enjoyed free performances at the Celebrate December at Esplanade Concourse and Outdoor Theatre and shopped at the Market of Artists and Designers along the waterfront promenade outside the Red Dot Design Museum.
