Chinese woman escapes from kidnappers
A Chinese woman escaped from her kidnappers in Cavite on Friday, police reported yesterday.
Liu Shan Shan, 28, was taken from the lobby of a condominium in Pasay City where she and her husband were staying at around 8 p.m. on Thursday and was brought to a resort in Barangay Bucana in Ternate.
Senior Superintendent William Segun, Cavite police director, said Liu was snatched by two Chinese citizens and a Filipino who have yet to be identified.
“The suspects demanded P2 million for her release,” a security official said.
Liu told probers she was introduced to the suspects through mobile messaging application WeChat. She said met and agreed to ride their car, thinking that she would be interviewed for a job as an interpreter.
She said she became suspicious when she noticed that they have been traveling for several hours. When she confronted the suspects, she said she was handcuffed while her mouth was covered with duct tape.
A police officer who was vacationing at the resort with his family coordinated with the local police when he saw Liu shouting for help while running away from her captors.
Footage from security cameras near the resort showed the suspects boarding a bus bound for Manila following the incident.
