PAL now part of TSA Pre-Check program

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is now part of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Pre-Check program, allowing passengers on flights from the US to avail of quick screening procedures.

In a statement, PAL said eligible travelers on the flag carrier’s flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Honolulu, and Guam are now spared from removing their shoes, light jackets, and belts at checkpoints.

The passengers’ liquids and laptops may also remain in carryon bags at TSA PreP® checkpoints.

Children 12 years and younger may accompany an adult who has TSA Pre-Check.

For the TSA Pre-Check screening, TSA accepts some members of NEXUS and SENTRI, and all members of Global Entry and the TSA Pre-Check application program.

Once approved in a program, travelers will get a Known Traveler Number (KTN) to enter in reservations when booking flights on PAL.

With a KTN in a reservation, the TSA Pre-Check indicator should appear on the passenger’s boarding pass when checking in for a flight.

Passengers would need to look for the TSA Pre-Check entrance when at US airport checkpoints.

If there is no TSA Pre-Check lane in operation, passengers should follow TSA officer instruc- tions to go through the fastest screening possible.

“As the airline operating the greatest number of routes and flights from the US to the Philippines, PAL is always looking for ways to make the travel experience more comfortable for our valued customers,” PAL president and chief operating officer Jaime Bautista said.

“We are pleased to be part of the Pre-Check program so that our eligible flyers may go through screening lanes with ease and speed, while at the same time enhancing the security check procedure out of the United States,” he added.

Apart from PAL, there are 46 other airlines participating in the TSA Pre-Check program.
