Fake cop beats up real cop

A security guard was arrested after beating up a policeman who was about to arrest him for creating trouble and posing as a police officer in Sta. Cruz, Manila Sunday night.

Ace Bernardo, 26, was charged with usurpation of authority and slight physical injury, Senior Police Officer 1 Roderick Kabigting said.

Barangay 337 chairman Allan Padernal sought police assistance regarding a group of men drinking on the street and creating trouble, according to a police report.

Police Officer 1 Richard Racca responded and introduced himself to Bernardo, who told the lawman to back off because he was also a policeman.

Racca asked for his ID, but instead of showing one the suspect kicked him in the face and body.

The policeman fell to the pavement and would have been beaten badly except that some residents came to his aid and beat up Bernardo before turning him over to the police station.
