Zark’s Burgers-Lyceum blew a 14-point lead but recovered in time as it edged Wangs Basketball-Letran, 95-93, to stretch its win run to four in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Pasig City Sports Center yesterday.

Jaycee Marcelino hit a floater with 1:03 left which turned out to be the gamewinning basket as the Couriers, who rallied from a 67-81 deficit early in the fourth, bungled their last three attempts.

The Jawbreakers thus kept their surge after dropping their opening day match.

“It’s my responsibility. I wanted to give others the chance to play. It almost turned to a loss. It’s a learning experience for us,” said Zark’s Burgers-LPU coach Topex Robinson.

Mike Nzeusseu dazzled the crowd with three slams to topscore with 27 points he spiked with 11 boards and three steals against five turnovers.

University of Perpetual Help rode on Nigerian Prince Eze’s triple-double game as it thrashed Jose Rizal University, 88-72, to improve to 2-1 in the other game.

Eze logged 24 points on a 12-of-18 clip, 20 rebounds and a league-record 11 blocks with three assists to boot for the Altas, who used a blistering 15-3 start to set the tone for the 16-point rout.

Eze became the fifth player to turn in triple double numbers in the league after Bobby Ray Parks, Mike Tolomia (twice), Kent Salado and Jeron Teng (thrice).

“He is getting better every game. That’s what I want to see among my players,” said UPHSD coach Frankie Lim.
