For a change, PHLPost hosts ‘date’ for lovers

- By EVELYN MACAIRAN

Aside from offering cards, chocolates and flowers for Valentine’s Day, the Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) will for the first time, host a dinner date for lovebirds tonight.

Promising a “romantic evening to remember,” it will use the majestic columns of the century-old Manila Central Post Office as backdrop while serving a delightful dinner and enhancing the experience with the colorful lights of the Liwasang Bonifacio fountain and love songs by the singing

karteros (postmen). Every Valentine’s Day, PHLPost’s singing karteros deliver Valentine’s cards, bouquet of flowers, chocolates and teddy bears to love ones.

“Date Night is our way of celebrating Valentine’s Day. We know that most of the fancy restaurants will be fully booked on V-Day and we are giving our patrons an alternative date place and a free treat for their continuous patronage of our express mail service,” said Dada Marquez, PHLPost Mega Manila Area marketing head.

To avail themselves of the dinner date, a couple must to purchase flowers, cards or any of the PHLPost Valentine’s Day products and services.

Aside from a romantic dinner, PHLPost would also offer the “Selfie Stamp” – a concept where couples could have their photos taken and convert this into their very own personal stamp – and launch the “Harana” stamp.

“Harana” is designed by in-house layout artist Eunice Beatrix Dabu and features the digital art rendition of the traditional Philippine serenade. PHLPost printed 50,000 copies of the stamps that will be sold at P12 each and another 400 pieces of limited edition official first day cover envelope for collectors.

The “Date Night” would start at 7 p.m. and end at around 10 p.m. Those interested can call Dada or Jeff through telephone numbers 527-0147 and 527-0135. – With Mayen Jaymalin, Jess Diaz
