Foton looks to raise Phl market share with new engines
Vehicle manufacturer Foton Motor Philippines Inc. looks to further strengthen its presence in the local automotive sector with the introduction of cleaner, more powerful, and fuel-efficient engines adhering to the more stringent Euro 4 emission standard.
“As a result of numerous meetings by ASEAN nations to harmonize standards related to controlling air pollution, the government has finally implemented the Euro 4 emission standard which was part of the Clean Air Act Law.
Philippines now joins Singapore and Vietnam being the first countries to implement Euro 4 emission standard ahead of other ASEAN neighbors like Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand,” Foton Motor Philippines president Rommel Sytin said.
Foton has always been committed to providing exceptional product lines through scientific and technological innovation, said Sytin, as the firm launched Foton’s Blue Energy Euro 4 Engine.
The new engines are a product of a joint venture between China’s Foton Motor and diesel power plant expert Cummins.
“Blue Energy is a continued expression of our promise and a product of earnest research and development that serves up a host of benefits such as power, durability, reliability, efficiency and clean operation. All these will greatly promote and protect the environment to attain sustainable development,” Sytin said.
Foton said the Euro 4 Engines are designed to deliver lower intake temperature, prevent abnormalities in combustion, and operate more quietly, while providing improved low-end torque pulling power.
As for emissions, the company said the new engine features produce less particulate matter even as it reduces risk of engine damage.
Foton said vehicles equipped with Blue Energy engines will include three variants of the popular Tornado light duty truck, including the new FOTON Tornado M4.2C, while the passenger vehicle segment will include Toplander A/T SUV, Traveller and Toano vans, and the all-new Thunder A/T pickup.
