Entrepreneurs get on track with TRAIN
Accomplished entrepreneurs from the Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) Philippines Academy gathered for a briefing on the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Act that was enacted into law in December last year. Conducted by SGV tax partner, lawyer Fabian delos Santos, the briefing described the changes brought about by the TRAIN law and the effects these changes will have on business in both the long and short terms.
The briefing also covered developments related to the Data Privacy Act, also known as Republic Act 10173 that seeks to protect all forms of information, whether private, personal or sensitive, with SGV chief information officer and advisory partner Warren Bituin conducting the briefing. RA 10173 aims to make sure that an organization is compliant with international standards in order to protect data from being hacked by cybercriminals.
Also discussed was Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and its impact on enterprises, with SGV advisory partner Maria Kathrina Macaisa explaining how RPA is already being applied to businesses.
The EOY Academy is composed of winners and finalists in the EOY Philippines program that started in 2003. The academy serves as a platform for members to network, collaborate and acquire new knowledge on subjects that impact entrepreneurs. To date, there are already 198 members.
Taking part in the briefing was 2017 Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines winner and Multiplex RNC chairman and CEO Natividad Cheng, who will be representing the Philippines in the 2018 World Entrepreneur of the Year, which will be held in Monaco this June.
