Bike King TRI 1 kicks off race season Sunday

Over 1,000 participan­ts from Baguio to Lanao del Norte will test their speed, strength, and endurance in the Bike King TRI 1 standard distance triathlon firing off Sunday at the Acea Resort in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

The 1.5-km swim leg will start at Acea beach with the 40-km bike course set at the inclines and false flats towards Ocean Adventure then back and the closing 10-km run along scenic San Bernardino Road.

The event will fire off at 6:10 a.m. for the first of three waves: Wave 1 (all females, males 30-34, 55-59, and 60-above), followed by Wave 2 at 6:20 a.m. (males 18-24, 25-29, 45-49, 50-54 and relay teams), and Wave 3 at 6:30 a.m. (males 35-39 and 40-44). The top three finishers in the men’s and women’s divisions in each age group and top relay teams will receive specially designed trophies. TAG Heuer will give a prize to the first male and female age-groupers to cross the finish line.

The Bike King TR1, backed by official timekeeper TAG Heuer, Standard Insurance, official skin care Neutrogena, Vittoria, Nescafe' Dolce Gusto, Smart, NLEX-SCTEX, Prohealth Sports and Spinal, hydration partner Nuun, ON shoes, Robinsons Supermarke­t, Gardenia, Acea Subic Bay, the Subic Bay Metropolit­an Authority (SBMA), Court Meridian Hotel & Suites and Subic Holiday Villas, has been the most anticipate­d race season-opener in the multisport calendar.

Bike King TRI 1 will also feature 18 triathlon squads ranging from the well-establishe­d groups to the newcomers vying for the top team awards.
