Global sporting goods retail giant Intersport has arrived in the Philippines, offering Filipino sports buffs a wide array of major brands for their various needs.

The Switzerland-based company launched its first store not only in the country but in the entire Southeast Asian region yesterday at Ayala Malls Vertis North with Pinoy sports stars Alyssa Valdez, Thirdy Ravena and Willie Miller in attendance.

“Intersport is catered to performance athletes, persons who want to buy footwear, apparel, accessories, for their everyday use, for running, for basketball, for the gym and even for casual (use),” said Anton Gonzalez, president of Intersport Phl franchise partner Planet Sports, Inc.

Gonzalez said they intend to build more Intersport stores.

“We’d like to grow it in other parts of the Philippines, probably in Makati, Bonifacio (Global City), MOA, Cebu, mostly in high-density commercial areas,” he said.

Intersport has over 5,500 shops all over the world and the Philippines was the 46th to have a franchise.

“The sports retail game in Phl is changing rapidly and the global Pinoy of today demands and deserves only the very best in product quality, value and expert service,” said Gonzalez.
