4 killed in shootings
Motorcycle-riding men shot dead a drug surrenderee in Cagayan and a Marine soldier in Cotabato City on Friday.
Two others were killed in a shooting incident also in Cotabato City.
Marcial Cabalza, 45, a resident of Barangay Atulayan in Tuguegarao, Cagayan, was in front of a printing shop in Barangay Caritan Centro when he was shot at about 9 a.m.
Cabalza was pronounced dead on arrival at the People’s General Hospital.
Police said the victim surrendered under Oplan Tokhang in 2016.
Sgts. Ferdinand Ulang and Arnel Navarro of the 7th Marine Battalion in North Upi, Maguindanao were riding a motorcycle on their way to the city proper in Cotabato when they were shot.
Ulang died at the scene. Navarro was wounded and brought to a hospital for treatment.
After around two hours, a suspected contract killer was gunned down by a group of Marines deployed near a private mortuary where Ulang was brought.
The soldiers shot the suspect identified only as Mohammad for shooting Alfredo Tumbaga, security officer of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Legislative Assembly.
Tumbaga died while being treated in a hospital.
