4 killed in shootings

Motorcycle-riding men shot dead a drug surrendere­e in Cagayan and a Marine soldier in Cotabato City on Friday.

Two others were killed in a shooting incident also in Cotabato City.

Marcial Cabalza, 45, a resident of Barangay Atulayan in Tuguegarao, Cagayan, was in front of a printing shop in Barangay Caritan Centro when he was shot at about 9 a.m.

Cabalza was pronounced dead on arrival at the People’s General Hospital.

Police said the victim surrendere­d under Oplan Tokhang in 2016.

Sgts. Ferdinand Ulang and Arnel Navarro of the 7th Marine Battalion in North Upi, Maguindana­o were riding a motorcycle on their way to the city proper in Cotabato when they were shot.

Ulang died at the scene. Navarro was wounded and brought to a hospital for treatment.

After around two hours, a suspected contract killer was gunned down by a group of Marines deployed near a private mortuary where Ulang was brought.

The soldiers shot the suspect identified only as Mohammad for shooting Alfredo Tumbaga, security officer of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Legislativ­e Assembly.

Tumbaga died while being treated in a hospital.
