Robinsons Malls aids Mayon victims

-

Robinsons Malls, through Robinsons RLove and The Gift of Change, mobilized relief operations in calamitystricken areas in the Bicol region to provide assistance to the families greatly affected by the eruption threats of Mayon Volcano in Albay.

The intensifying eruption threats of Mayon Volcano resulted to the displacement of thousands of families who were forced to stay in evacuation areas for shelter.

The municipality of Camalig was one of the affected areas in Bicol with a total of 153 families residing in Palanog Elementary School where there is no access to safe water for drinking and cooking. Some water sources are hand pumps and dug wells, and these water sources have not undergone water quality testing since the onset of evacuation.

Apart from clean water sources, hygiene kits have also been identified as an immediate need in all the evacuation centers.

Addressing the needs of the residents, the team from Robinsons Place Naga immediately turned over more than 1,000 mineral water and safeguard soaps to the province’s city social welfare and development office and public safety office.

The relief items were then delivered to the evacuees at Palanog Elementary School through Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO).

Through these donations, Bicolanos will be able to have a fresh start as they wait for the Mayon Volcano to calm down.

Robinsons RLove is an employee driven CSR program where employees contribute their time, skills and treasures as their concrete expression of their commitment in making a difference to the communities and sparking a transformative social change.

The Gift of Change program is part of Robinsons Malls’ corporate social responsibility program focused on community development, health and wellness programs for the less fortunate Filipino.

Its current projects include The Gift of Sight, Libreng

Bakuna, Bike for Change and relief operations.

Shoppers and mallers are encouraged to give their donations in coin banks placed in 47 shopping malls located all over the country.
