Navotas’ most wanted criminal was found dead in Malabon yesterday with a gunshot wound in the head.

Danilo Villanueva’s body was dumped on the pavement of Barangay Panghulo beside Rouel Asuncion, whose body was found strangled with a belt around his neck.

Police also reportedly recovered 14 sachets of suspected shabu and two fired cartridge cases from a.45 caliber pistol.

Malabon police chief investigator Inspector Dennis Javier said they are looking into the possibility the two were killed elsewhere, after a Mitsubishi Montero Sport with bloodstains was found abandoned along Road 10 in Navotas.

The vehicle was registered to Villanueva’s wife Susana.

While Asuncion had no record in illegal drugs, Villanueva was Navotas’ most wanted criminal in 2015 and was linked to a string of cases involving illegal drugs and murder, according to Navotas police chief Senior Superintendent Brent Madjaco.

Villanueva and his son Cris, who died of gunshot wounds in an ambush by motorcycle-riding gunmen last January, were known members of a gun-for-hire group.

The father and son are in the Navotas’ drug watchlist, Madjaco added.

The elder Villanueva is also a suspect in the killing of Juanito Palisoc last Feb. 4.

Villanueva, also identified by his alias “Dany Toyo,” allegedly confronted the victim and shot him multiple times after Palisoc visited the wake of Villanueva’s son.
