SSS adopts contingency measures for RTPC
State-run Social Security System said it has put in place contingency measures to address issues involving its transition to the Real-Time Posting of Contributions (RTPC) system.
In a statement, SSS president and chief executive officer Emmanuel Dooc said there have been technical problems in the implementation of the new RTPC, particularly in its website.
“We recognize that RTPC is currently experiencing birth pains which involve technical problems that affect its overall implementation. In that regard, we came up with measures to ease difficulties in our new payment scheme,” Dooc said.
The RTPC is the instant validation, transmission and acknowledgement of SSS contribution data between the payment facility and the SSS system, and subsequently, the posting to a member’s contribution record.
Members who want to avail of this service needs to register online or via mobile in order to receive their payment reference numbers (PRNs), which will be used to pay contributions through the pension fund’s automated tellering system (ATS).
According to Dooc, 94 SSS branches with ATS facilities have extended their servicing hours up to 7 p.m. during weekdays, while 51 branch offices are open during Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to assist members in paying contributions.
He said these branches can accept contribution payments without the PRN during times when there is system downtime.
“But this is only an emergency accommodation. We’ll go back to the standard RTPC procedure once the system resumes,” Dooc explained.
He said electronic centers located in SSS branches are also regularly checked to ensure functionality.
Meanwhile, Dooc encouraged all individually-paying members to update their mobile numbers with the state fund so they can receive their PRNs via short message service (SMS).
He said this would avoid problems in accessing the
My.SSS website, which has been facing technical problems due to influx of online users.
Dooc also reminded employers to keep their email addresses active, to which SSS will send their electronic contribution list summary, PRN, and other RTPC-related notifications.
The pension fund is working to ensure that the implementation of the RTPC will normalize by end-June, he said.
