Toby’s holds annual ‘Sports for Hope’
Toby’s Youth Sports Foundation (TYSF), a non-profit foundation established by sports retail giant Toby’s Sports, announced that it recently held a sharing program at the Department of Health – Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-TRC) in Camp Bagong Diwa, as part of its commitment to uplift the lives of Filipino youth through sports, recreation and fitness.
In partnership with the Rotary Club of Greenhills, Toby’s Sports conducted a basketball clinic for the patients of DOHTRC Bicutan with the help of certified basketball coaches.
To complement the physical fitness programs of the camp, TYSF and other event sponsors donated various sports equipment, school supplies and clothes. A screen projector was also given to aid in the educational services of the institution.
During the event, Jose Claudio Jr., TYSF trustee, gave an inspirational message to the patients, encouraging them to strengthen their faith and stay on the course of positive change, despite the many challenges they face.
He reminded them that their stay in the facility is temporary, and through determination, they will soon be with their families stronger and better.
“For over a decade this project has been an important tradition for Toby’s Youth Sports Foundation, with the aim of helping the facility in its rehabilitation programs for children, particularly substance-abuse street children housed in the Bahay Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center,” Claudio said.
“We help them the best way we know how – through sports and fitness,” he added.
The DOH also awarded Toby’s Sports and the Rotary Club of Greenhills with a plaque for their valued and enduring efforts in youth development.
