PLDT’s data, IT services post record revenues

- By LOUELLA DESIDERIO

PLDT Inc. posted record revenues of P34.1 billion from its enterprise business, driven by demand for information technology (IT) services and cloud services.

In a statement yesterday, PLDT Inc. said last year’s revenues from the enterprise business rose 11 percent.

Revenues from the information communications technology service grew 26 percent year on year due to the 59 percent jump in managed IT services and 49 percent growth in cloud services.

Managed IT services include business process outsourcing, managed service desk, managed infrastructure, ERP (enterprise resource planning) implementation, and application life cycle support.

Data center services such as co-location, peering, and managed server hosting services also posted a 10 percent growth last year.

“We are jumping to the next curve from being the preferred managed infrastructure provider to a trusted managed services provider where we create value for clients through our integrated tools, skills-based expertise, global-practice methodologies, and broad ecosystem of partners. This aligns with our strategic intent to further solidify our position as the trusted partner and thought leader in the enterprise market,” said Jovy Hernandez, PLDT senior vice president and head of enterprise business.

He said the robust growth in managed IT services and the strategic focus on building a cyber security practice among enterprises would further diversify PLDT’s revenue streams beyond data center and cloud for the enterprise group.

PLDT, through enterprise units ALPHA Enterprise and SME Nation, provides worldclass data services for businesses and government clients.

“We are also delivering unprecedented growth across all business pillars – banking and finance, conglomerates, IT and BPO, gaming, and the public sector. We continue to grow faster than industry, further strengthening our leadership in these sectors,” Hernandez said.

PLDT chairman and chief executive officer Manuel V. Pangilinan earlier said the telco provider’s financial performance would be driven by continued growth in fixed line, both in home and enterprise.

It is eyeing recurring core earnings of P23-to P24-billion this year.

Last year, PLDT’s recurring core income, which excludes asset sales, manpower reduction program expenses and accelerated depreciation, went up 11 percent to reach P22.3 billion.
