Jammin’ with the House of Marley

- PEPPER TEEHANKEE

Respect for nature and the unifying power of music were evident at the Philippine launch of the House of Marley, an ecologically-friendly line of audio gear, inspired by the late reggae icon Bob Marley.

Spotted at the launch at Polilya bar in Poblacion, Makati City were Rajo Laurel, Lauren Reid, Roxanne Barcelo, Antoinette Taus, Bianca King, Carla Humphries, Phoemela Baranda, Louise delos Reyes and Kerwin King. Guests were able to experience the House of Marley acoustics through interactive product booths set up within the retro-tropical bar with music by DJ Nix Damn P.

Audio manufacturer House of Marley was born out of the Marley family’s desire to bring to life the Bob Marley’s vision of universal love, music and respect for nature through socially responsible materials and sustainably crafted products. These are sourced from earth-friendly materials such as recyclable aluminum, bamboo, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood. FSC is the German-based international non-profit organization set up in 1993 to monitor responsible use of the world’s forests.

The products’ design is rooted in simplicity and ecological balance. Bamboo, recycled paper, recyclable aluminum, wood composite, recycled paper, organic cork, rubber, leather, recycled metals and plastic materials, nontoxic silicone, organic cotton, and/or ceramic may be added to a unit that produces high-quality sound to become an audiophile’s dream.

Artist Issa Pressman bagged the “Stir It Up” turntable for the best Instagram post during the #MarleyPH launch. The streamlined, bamboo-finish turntable with a built in pre-amp is yet to be introduced in the Philippine market. Available in stores now are the Smile Jamaica earbuds, Chant mini and Chant sport speakers, Get Together mini and Bag of Riddim portable Bluetooth audio systems, and the Positive Vibration headphones. Check out these wonderful earth-friendly speakers, turntables, earphones, audio systems and accessories. (Marley gear is available at Power Mac Center, Switch, iBook, inBox, iStore and Urban Gadgets. House of Marley is distributed in the Philippines by Innovee Trading Inc.
