Mighty Sports backs Xavier athletes
Xavier School hopes to produce more top athletes in the mold of PBA players Chris Tiu and Teng brothers – Jeron and Jeric – after signing a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Mighty Sports Apparel and Accessories recently.
Under the agreement, MSAA will provide varsity uniforms to the Golden Stallions – one of the successful high school teams in the country.
Xavier, then bannered by Tiu, Joseph Yeo and TY Tang, dominated the Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association in the 90s.
The latest star to come out of Xavier is Ginebra San Miguel rookie Jett Manuel.
“I’m extremely grateful to Fr. Ari and the staff of Xavier for allowing us to do our own share to help raise the school’s bar of excellence especially in basketball,” said MSAA president Dr. John Sy. “Xavier has always been close to my heart so it’s truly an honor to be connected to them in this manner.”
Aside from Sy and Fr. Ari, also present during the signing of agreement were MSAA sports director Caesar Wongchuking, Xavier campus operations coordinator Hope Ocampo and athletics coordinator Lardy de las Penas.
Sy added that Mighty Sports will continue to be the outfitter of the school’s varsity teams aside from being the maker of the school’s PE (physical education) uniforms.
