Revellers eye playoffs versus ousted Generals

Games today (Ynares Sports Arena) 1 p.m. – Batangas-EAC vs Che’Lu Bar and Grill-SSC 3 p.m. – AMA vs JRU

Che’Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian hopes to come off recharged from a long 19-day rest as it shoots for a playoff berth against also-ran Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig today.

The Revellers racked up four straight victories, including a scrambling 79-73 victory over Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare last March 6 for a 6-3 slate (6-3) before going on a long break. But they remain the heavy favorites in their 1 p.m. clash with the Generals, who are out of it all with a woeful 1-7 mark.

AMA Online Education (1-7) and Jose Rizal University (1-8), meanwhile, face off in a non-bearing duel at 3 p.m.

Che’Lu Bar and Grill-SSC, however, will be without ace Michael Calisaan for the second straight game with an elbow injury.

But RK Ilagan, Jeepy Faundo, Samboy De Leon and Allyn Bulanadi are expected to step up as the team seeks to join Centro Escolar U, AkariAdamson and Marinerong Pilipino in the playoffs.

“We should stay sharp despite our long rest,” said Revellers coach Stevenson Tiu.

But the Generals are also expected to go all-out to spoil the Revellers bid while trying to snap their three-game slide.
