UnionBank bags mobile banking award
Union Bank of the Philippines was hailed as the “Best App for Customer Experience” and was highly commended for its “Excellence in Mobile Banking” at the 9th Retail Banker International Asia Trailblazer Awards held in Singapore.
UnionBank’s EON’s Selfie Banking, the use of best in class facial recognition technology to authenticate user identity and access an account on mobile devices, was singled out by the judges to be best fitting such metrics.
The judges also commended EON for pioneering open banking in the Philippines enabling customers, even if their accounts are with other banks, to enjoy EON’s services like move money and buy stuff.
“Harnessing technology to co-create delightful banking experiences is what EON is all about,” Paolo Baltao, head of EON Banking Group, said.
RBI Asia Trailblazer Awards has been created to identify best practice initiatives that are setting new standards for the retail banking industry in Asia.
It is regarded as one of the most credible awardgiving bodies in the industry that gives tribute to the best-of-breed players in the retail banking landscape in Asia-Pacific.
