PPS holds 55th annual convention
The Philippine Pediatric Society Inc. (PPS) is a specialty division of the Philippine Medical Association. PPS is a member of the International Pediatric Association (IPA), Asia Pacific Pediatric Association (APPA) and ASEAN Pediatric Federation.
The PPS will hold its 55th annual convention with the theme, “The NEED to Change: New, Emerging and Evolving Directions in Pediatrics” on April 8 - 11, at the Philippine International Convention Center, CCP Complex, Pasay City.
The yearly event gathers at least 8,000 delegates composed of pediatricians, family physicians, general practitioners, trainees and allied medical practitioners.
This conference hopes to answer the need of continuing, collaborative, concerted and cooperative action from all stakeholders upholding the best interest of the child. The committee on scientific program has meticulously prepared relevant lecture topics that will include new and emerging children’s diseases which may present challenges in diagnosis and management.
Notable speakers have been invited to share their expertise the different Dr. and Susanne pediatric experiences Tanski disciplines. in of the American Academy of Pediatrics leads the roster of plenary speakers. The pre-convention focuses on six major PPS advocacies that include: What’s App? The Effects of Social Media on Children and Adolescents; Immunization Advocacy: Calling the Shots! Essential Issues in Tobacco Control in Children; Optimizing the Filipino Child’s 1st 1000 Days – An Investment for a Healthier Tomorrow; 6th PPS National Breastfeeding Coordinators’ Annual Meeting; Workshop on Depression and Suicide for the General Pediatrician.
Plenary lectures will include: 33rd Dr. Alberto V. Tupas Memorial Lecture on Matrix and Metrics of the Pediatric Residency Program in the Philippines; Strengthening the Pediatrician’s Capacity In Tobacco Control; Hepatitis B Eradication: Vital Role Of Pediatricians; 7th Dr. Fe Del Mundo Memorial Lecture on Primary Care, Collaborative Care and The Pediatrician; Youth Mental Health Crisis; Wounded Healers: Offering Their Lives For A Cause; 6th Dr. Perla Santos Ocampo Memorial Lecture on “Bantay Bata 163: Transcending The Future Of The Filipino Children”; The Widening Scope Of Pediatric Diagnostic Imaging; Gut Microbiome And Its Impact On Childhood Health.
Likewise, interesting topics will be discussed during the luncheon symposia and simultaneous sessions. Resident-finalists from HAB accredited hospitals will battle it out for the annual interhospital research contest and quiz contest.
