ACROSS THE PHILIPPINES
To extend the Great British Festival celebration outside the Metro, the British Embassy in the Philippines, led by Ambassador Pruce, visited Saint Louis University in Baguio and Silliman University in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental in March.
During his talk at Saint Louis University, the Ambassador announced the university’s partnership with Coventry University in the UK for a new graduate program.
“Saint Louis University is a fantastic, engaged cohesive university to which when plans were initiated for TNE, saw the opportunities and was excited to participate with this educational collaboration focusing on DRRM,” Pruce said.
He also announced that the collaboration between the British Council and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on TNE will further improve guidelines for quality assurance, recognition of foreign higher education institutions and joint courses of study and policies on postgraduate degrees.
At Silliman University, the Ambassador also promoted TNE and announced the successful establishment of a joint double-degree with Newcastle University.
“The TNE program is particularly exciting because it provides an opportunity for Filipino people of all ages to gain access to fantastic, high quality, world-leading, international-standard higher education. It’s a flexible way to gain access to the best of Filipino and British education,” Pruce said during his talk at the university.
“I hope the Great British Festival 2018 will help foster still closer links between our countries. By reaching across the Philippines, it will give more people than ever before a firsthand opportunity to learn more about the UK, and inspire them to enjoy the creativity, innovation, culture, heritage and knowledge that spell Britain’s success in fashion, music, food, education and design,” Pruce said.
